THE DINING CAR

The moment the clock hits 6:00:00, there's the faint sound of sliding metal. Then another, louder. And another. Another. And finally, one more, and you understand why the sound was getting closer and closer. The doorway opposite to the padlocked control room has opened on its own, and even without entering what lies beyond, you can see that the other doors have opened as well, straight down to the train's end. The doors must have opened in reverse, and now, you're free to explore. Testing the handles will show that each door can be opened and closed at will from now on. Or, well, at least for now. There's no telling when anything around here will change.

Because of the short run of the game, instead of individual mingles being posted for different times or events, each mingle is posted by location. [izumi, meanwhile, tries the door to the galley. it doesn't budge, so he naturally gives it another tug before giving up.]

Of course it's easier. Their patterns aren't exactly sophisticated.

What are you doing under there?

Looking for clues—and being pretty successful at it.

[brandishing a note he just found! take that, loser at a door that won't open.]

[great, at least he's not the loser on his fours like a dog.

but he actually sounds a little scandalized.]

[Then Akechi enters, and Izumi gestures to Yoneya.]

This guy found a note. We have an idea of whom it's talking about, but not the writer.

[he waves when akechi enters.]

... I ... see. We should share this with the others, when we get a chance. For now, we ought to keep looking. Where haven't you two checked yet?

We just started. The note was under the table, but the galley is locked. The other side is identical to this one, so why don't we look at the floor there? We can check under the tablecloths, too.

If one of the two of you doesn't mind taking a look at the floor, I'll go through the tablecloths.

[ He's, like, already going to go do this, so have fun crawling on the floor!!! ]

I'm going to try and get a good view of this car to see if there's anything not identical.

[His pride isn't so fragile to suffer from crawling around on the floor, so no complaints here!]

[ After a few minutes, Akechi will eventually call to the two of them. ]

[ This one says, in a feminine, stylized script: I can’t believe I’m stuck here with that savage. ]

... Well, while we're at it—seems like the two halves aren't so identical after all.

A chair's missing there, but there's an extra one over there. There's a plant in the wrong spot, and a teapot at a weird angle.

Think something might happen if we rearrange them to actually be 100% the same?

[Izumi crawls out from under a table to head on over and read Akechi's note. Then he looks over his shoulder to study the scene from afar.]

What kind of train car do you think this is? Still, it's worth a shot.

[So he'll come over and help rearrange the furnishing.]

It's certainly worth a try.

[ He'll replace the tablecloths he's removed, and once that's done, help the other two boys make sure everything is arranged identically on both sides. ]

[once they spend the rest of the hour arranging everything so that it's mirrored—ta-da, galley is open.

in the meantime, the process will reveal that one of the chairs has a faulty leg, and also there's. uh.]

Guys? I found something.

[and then he shows them the creepy note???]

That's pretty far out there.

[Izumi makes a face. Well, then.]

Is that blood? Talk about impractical!

[ Akechi will grimace. ]

How barbaric. We should inform the others. They'll want to know about this.

Right? Did they not have a pen or something?

Of course. It's hard to an investigation on an empty stomach isn't it?

[ Attempt #2 at the galley because it's really what he's interested in. ]

[ There's an entire train to explore, but Hazama is still here an hour later because he has priorities. What's the priority you might ask? ]

Now let's see... [ Sliding into the galley which isn't the worst because he's a noodle and looking around. He'll call out to anyone that looks to be joining in on his adventure. ]

Careful with the freezer, it would be awfully easy to forget someone in there.

[ Izumi is back and at it again. After that ominous note, how can he resist the siren song of the galley? ]

That would be fitting, wouldn't it? At least then if you got trapped you'd have company. [ Just chattering nonchalantly it's fine. Rooting through the shelves, humming lightly. ]
